Ms. Miranda, one of the leading choreographers of Brazil, has toured over the world with her company. Since 1993 she has been frequently coming to New York to show her work at DIA, Dixon Place and Saint Mark's Church. Last year Ms. Miranda brought to Saint Mark's, Counter-Attack, which was praised by Jennifer Dunning as an "exciting, hurtling, high-energy trip through space for five surging, spinning dancers..."- The New York Times
Invited to create a work for Ballet Hispanico, Ms. Miranda is again in New York with her longtime collaborator. They will show at Dixon a brand new dance, specially created for Ms. Salomon. "The Sliding Stone," still a work in progress, is set to music by R. Sakamoto and Shostakovitch, with one excerpt from Robert's Musil – The Man Without Qualities – Set design and costumes are also by Regina Miranda.
The Sliding Stone will be performed at Dixon Place in February 1999, as part of the "Crossing Boundaries" dance series which is curated by Marcia Monroe.
